This week’s Blog entry is a bit personal. Windows 7 processed a boat load of updates this week and when it finally completed, my wireless did not work.

As  I was heading off to another office, I assumed a good reboot would solve it. When I arrived at the other office, my Win7 wireless worked fine. OK, I thought.

Not so fast!  When I returned to my home office, no wireless.  To make this frustrating story very short, the Windows update has an issue with my Westell 7500 wireless DSL router.  My other laptops connect just fine, but not my Win7 laptop with an Atheros ARB95 Wireless Network Adapter.

Honestly, I have not had time to fix this mess as I just installed a spare NetGear WG101 wireless access point and my Win7 Laptop connected immediately.

I’ll find the answer and post it here within the week!  If you have a similar situation, don’t kill your new laptop, it may be an issue with your wireless router…

BTW, my previous Westell 7500 rebooted every few minutes with a Windows 7 laptop attached. Frontier Telecom replaced that one.

As with other Blogs I have seen, this is going to revolve around IPv6 or some Windows Networking Security patch…
