Windows 7 | Using Outlook 2007 ?
Allthough I do like Windows 7 and think it is one of the best early release OS's Microsoft has issued, it is not perfect.
Many, many users of Office 2007 are having issues with Outlook. I am one of those! Outlook will appear to be working but will stop sending any email and the Outbox will fill up, very maddening.
To quickly get some emails out, close Outlook. Press the Ctrl + ALt + Del key and select the Task Manager from the menu provided. Look for the Outlook process still running the the task list and kill it.
Restart Outlook and your email should function for this instance. The old scanpst.exe still exist and seems to help quite a bit:
To Run the ScanPST.EXE in Windows 7, Give this a try:
STEP 1
Unhide the Files and Folders
Enable “show hidden files and folders”
Start >My Computer >Organize >Folder and Search Options > View Tab >Check Show Hidden Folders and Files and uncheck “Hide Extensions for Known File Types”.
Location for Scanpst.exe:
Windows7 64 bit: Start >My Computer > > Hard Drive (C
> Program files(x86) >Microsoft Office >Office 12 >ScanPST.exe
STEP 2
Reparing Process
Run the tool, and browse to the following location to choose the Outlook data file which you want to repair.
C:\Users\<Account Name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook.”
Click Start, which will start the repair process.
Note: The repair might take a long time depending on the size of Data file.
After the scanning is complete you will be prompted to click repair.
Try opening Outlook after the repair is complete to check if the issue is fixed.
