Super Tuesday, well, make that Super Patch Tuesday for your PC!
Keep in mind, Tuesdays are known as Microsoft’s Patch Tuesday, and yesterday was a whopper!
Microsoft released 13 bulletins to fix 26 vulnerabilities in Windows and Microsoft Office. This includes the first Hyper-V-specific patch. There are numerous other patches this week fixing very techie sounding issues with Windows, but here is the bottom line:
You should see this icon in your lower right system tray every Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning! If you do not, check your updates manually! Even if you have good Anti-Virus software, you are exposed without all the latest Microsoft patches.
AND !!!!!! some updates create the need for other updates! It seems to be getting worse, but two PCs I just updated and rebooted immediately want to install yet one more patch. Word to the wise, let it update! BTW, I run XP Pro on all my PCs and have no plans to change, it only gets worse with the new versions.
Follow up, if you do not see this Update Icon, contact your tech support company or SmallBizWebServices for assistance! Your Windows Automatic Update service can get turned off by virus, spyware, and general malware threats.
Please note, that most of these patches will require Windows to restart.
